Tolu Bankole congratulates Dapo Abiodun on Southern Governors’ Forum chairmanship

A Member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee, Aare (Hon.) Tolu Bankole, has extended his warm congratulations to Ogun State Governor, Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun (CON), on his unanimous nomination as Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.
In a statement signed by Bankole on Tuesday, he hailed Abiodun’s exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing regional development across Southern Nigeria. “This appointment is a testament to your ability to steer the Forum towards greater heights of governance excellence,” Bankole said.
The APC chieftain also congratulated Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State on his election as Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, commending all governors involved for their dedication to fostering unity and development in the region.
Bankole emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Southern Governors’ Forum and the Federal Government to harness synergies and resources necessary for comprehensive regional development. He noted that such cooperation would enable Southern Nigeria to effectively address infrastructure challenges, economic disparities, and security concerns.
Furthermore, Bankole stressed the need for transcending party lines within the Southern Governors’ Forum, citing political diversity as a strength that enriches policy discussions and fosters innovative solutions to complex challenges.
“By prioritizing unity and consensus-building across different political affiliations, Southern Governors can set a precedent for inclusive governance that prioritizes the collective welfare of all citizens.
“This approach not only strengthens regional integration but also reinforces the commitment to democratic principles and good governance.” He noted
Recall that the Ogun State Governor, was on Monday, elected the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum.
His Anambra State counterpart, Prof Charles Soludo, emerged as the Vice Chairman of the forum.
The Southern Governors’ Forum serves as the umbrella body for the 17 governors from the South-West, South-South, and South-East geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
Abiodun succeeds the former governor of Ondo State, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), who died in December last year.
