Forget 2027, Tinubu Will Complete 2 Terms—Ganduje Warns Northern Leaders

By JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has issued a clear warning to northern political leaders contemplating a bid for the presidency in 2027.

Ganduje stated that the party must honor the rotational principle, which designates the southern region to lead for the next two terms.

Speaking while hosting the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (PBAT) Media Centre and the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, on Tuesday, Ganduje emphasized that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to completing both his current term and a subsequent term in office.

“When a leader from the northern part of this country was in office for 8 years, we advocated that the next president in our party should come from the south.

“And luckily enough, we worked very hard with the cooperation of Nigerians. Our president has come from the south and is going, inshallah, for second term, 2027,” Ganduje said.

He reiterated that after Tinubu’s tenure, the presidency would revert to the northern part of the country, reinforcing the need for unity and adherence to party zoning protocols.

The APC Chairman commended the efforts of the youth forums and their commitment to the APC’s vision, stating, “This is very, very encouraging. I have to congratulate you for this. Our president is for the north, our president is for the south, our president is for the six geopolitical zones.”

“We have been receiving support groups from all the six geopolitical zones. And we are happy that our party believes in zoning.”

He highlighted the role of support groups from across the nation in promoting the party’s goals, showcasing a cohesive national strategy.

Ganduje specifically commended the group’s efforts in enlightening the public on the controversial Tax Reform Bill, which he said has now been endorsed by the majority of the citizens.

“APC is ready to provide you with all the assistance that you need. I have even seen that you are assisting the government in public enlightenment for people to understand the tax reform agenda.

“This tax reform, initially it was misunderstood, but in the course of time there was a lot of public engagement.

“I think people have come to understand the whole purpose of the tax reform. And we are happy that members of the National Assembly too, they are now fully conversant with the policy and they are ready to do the needful.

“Whenever there is an agenda by the federal government, if such support groups will come in in order to assist, then it will form public enlightenment and inclusiveness in the running of the government. So we thank you. We have seen your plan in order to mobilize voters in respect of the 2027 election,” Ganduje noted.

The National Coordinator of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, Mal. Auwal Ibrahim, assured Ganduje and the party leadership of their commitment to delivering 5 million votes for President Tinubu in the upcoming elections.

“We are ready to mobilize the youth and ensure that the president’s agenda receives the support it deserves,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, Hon. Dada Olusegun, leader of the PBAT Media Centre, pledged efforts to counter misinformation surrounding the administration and ensure that accurate narratives are presented to the public.

“We are committed to giving adequate publicity to the 2027 campaign of the present administration,” he stated, reinforcing the need for collaborative efforts to strengthen support for the government.
