FG Condemns Terrorist Attack in India

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

In a statement signed on Tuesday, by the Spokesperson of the Ministry, Kimiebi Ebienfa, he noted that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations is a global menace that requires collective action and firm commitment from the international community.

“Nigeria, having faced similar challenges, understands the devastating impact of such acts of violence and reiterates its call for enhanced global cooperation to combat terrorism and extremism.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of India as they recover from this tragedy, and we stand united in the shared pursuit of peace, stability, and justice worldwide,” Kimiebi said.

According to reports, at least 26 people, most of whom were Indian tourists, were shot dead by gunmen at a beauty spot near the resort town of Pahalgam in the Indian-controlled part of the region on 22 April.

India described the massacre as a “terror attack” and said it had “cross border” links, blaming Pakistan for backing it.

Pakistan denied any connection to the atrocity, which was claimed by a previously unknown militant group called the Kashmir Resistance.
