38 Abducted Eruku Worshippers Regain Freedom After Six Days

…Gov AbdulRazaq Hails Tinubu’s ‘Hands-On’ Role in Rescue

Thirty-eight Christian worshippers abducted during a recent attack on the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, have regained their freedom after six days in captivity.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced their release on Sunday, describing the development as the outcome of “many days of hard work” by security agencies and government officials. He credited the rescue to what he called the decisive and hands-on involvement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“This is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees,” the Governor said in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye.

The abductees, taken during last week’s violent attack on CAC Eruku, were released on Sunday, November 23.

According to the Governor, President Tinubu had cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 meeting in South Africa to focus on the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. The President also ordered heightened security deployments to Kwara, underscoring what AbdulRazaq described as his firm commitment to the safety of citizens.

The Governor thanked the Office of the National Security Adviser; the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigerian Army; the Nigeria Intelligence Agency; and the Nigeria Police Force, which he said had deployed four new tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive.

He also acknowledged the role of traditional rulers, religious institutions, community leaders and residents who offered support, solidarity and prayers throughout the ordeal.

AbdulRazaq said the state government remains committed to strengthening security architecture across vulnerable communities to prevent further incidents.
