FG Vows Full Implementation of 2026 Growth Budget

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Federal Government has vowed to fully implement the 2026 Budget, describing it as a growth-focused plan aimed at strengthening the economy, improving security and enhancing the welfare of Nigerians.

The assurance was given on Monday by the Minister of State for Finance, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, while presenting the budget to the Senate. She said the government is determined to ensure that the budget delivers real outcomes and does not remain a mere policy document.

Uzoka-Anite explained that the 2026 Budget is designed to consolidate recent economic reforms while accelerating growth through improved macroeconomic stability, faster infrastructure delivery and stronger fiscal discipline.

She noted that prudent fiscal management and aggressive revenue mobilisation would remain a priority, with tax reforms targeted at broadening the tax base and improving compliance across sectors.

According to the minister, the government also plans to increase strategic investments in security, infrastructure and education, adding that public-private partnerships and development finance would be leveraged to fast-track projects and stimulate economic activity.

She described the 2026 Budget as a clear shift from economic stabilisation to growth, noting that it aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Uzoka-Anite assured lawmakers that the Federal Government would focus on effective implementation, monitoring and accountability to ensure that budget allocations translate into improved security, better infrastructure and expanded economic opportunities for Nigerians.

She added that the administration remains committed to delivering tangible benefits to citizens through disciplined spending and sustained reforms aimed at long-term economic development.
