Group Commends FG Over N98bn Investment to Boost Grassroots Healthcare

A civic group, Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV), has said the Federal Government’s investment of N98 billion in primary healthcare centres across the country will significantly strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group described the funding as a major step toward improving access to basic healthcare services, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
The group noted that the financial intervention demonstrates that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to strengthening the country’s primary healthcare system.
According to TMV, the N98 billion was disbursed in 2025 as part of efforts by the Federal Government to accelerate the delivery of primary healthcare services nationwide and support broader national development goals.
The group explained that details of the investment were highlighted during the All Progressives Congress National Health Convention and Roundtable held in Abuja, where government officials described the initiative as one of the most significant single-year investments in grassroots health services in recent times.
TMV stated that the intervention is expected to expand the reach of primary healthcare services by incorporating an additional 5,212 facilities into the system.
It added that the move is designed to improve access to quality healthcare for millions of Nigerians living in rural areas and communities that have historically lacked adequate medical infrastructure.
The group further noted that the initiative forms part of broader reforms by the Tinubu administration aimed at repositioning the health sector as a key driver of national development.
It also revealed that the funding has already supported the upgrade of about 2,565 health centres across the country, while renovation work is currently ongoing in another 1,456 primary healthcare facilities.
According to TMV, strengthening primary healthcare institutions will have far-reaching effects on the well-being and productivity of citizens, particularly those living outside major urban centres.
The group expressed optimism that continued investment in rural health infrastructure would enhance healthcare delivery, improve public health outcomes and contribute to economic growth by ensuring a healthier population.
