Tinubu’s Minister, Tunji-Ojo shuts  Journalists out on assumption of office.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo who is one of the newly sworn in Ministers of President Bola Tinubu’s administration has assumed office at the ministry federal secretariat, even as Correspondents covering the ministry were shut out from the boardroom.

Tunji-Ojo, who was initially assigned the new ministry of Blue Economy, arrived the Area-one federal secretariat in a carnival-like procession.

National Periscope gathered that invited Correspondents who have been waiting for hours before the minister’s arrival at 2:20 pm, were denied entrance into the hall.

While some Journalists were maltreated by some paramilitary officers at the ministry, others were forcefully turned back.

One of the senior Ministry’s officials who order security to deny Newsmen access to the venue, said the meeting “is a family affairs. So only the minister’s guests should be allowed in.”

Interior Minister, Tunji Ojo charges  paramilitary service chiefs to be committed.

Meanwhile, in a press statement later made available after the minister’s meeting with the top stakeholders of the ministry, he charged the paramilitary service chiefs  to discharge their mandates in line with extant laws, saying he would hold them accountable for any infraction.

“I am here to work but in working we must have a good environment. The work of this ministry affects everyone whether you are rich or poor.

“I don’t lead from the back, I lead from the front. We will try, we will do our best to provide leadership, built on the foundation of your support.

“I do not inherit enemies and I do not inherit friends. I make my own enemies and I earn my own friends. I am here to make a change and I am here to deliver results and I need you to help me to do that.

“Just as Mr President will hold me accountable for whatever happens in the Ministry of Interior, I will never hold your subordinates responsible for anything; I will hold you responsible for anything that goes wrong”, he stated.

The heads of the four paramilitary agencies under the ministry, namely, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Immigration Service also attended the maiden meeting with the minister.
