Kano APC Dismisses Claims of Support Withdrawal for Tinubu

The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected reports suggesting that a group within the party has withdrawn support for the second-term bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the claim as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the State Publicity Secretary, Auwalu Abdullahi, said the party had no knowledge of any such decision and insisted that the Kano APC remains firmly aligned with the President’s political agenda.
The reaction followed a purported declaration by a group identifying itself as the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter, which claimed to have withdrawn support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
However, the APC dismissed the group as unrecognised within its structure, alleging that the statement was part of a deliberate attempt to sow discord and misrepresent the party’s position.
“The APC in Kano is aware of attempts by certain individuals and faceless groups to create confusion and disunity within the party,” the statement said.
It added that the so-called forum does not exist within the party’s constitutional framework and does not reflect the views of its members in the state.
“We wish to state categorically that this forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent APC members in Kano State,” Abdullahi said.
The party reaffirmed its support for Tinubu, noting that his administration remains focused on implementing policies aimed at economic recovery, governance reforms, and national development.
Under the leadership of the state chairman, Umar Doguwa, the party urged members and the public to disregard the claim, describing it as the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to create unnecessary tension.
It further stressed that the individual purported to have signed the withdrawal statement is neither known to the party nor recognised as a stakeholder at any level.
The Kano APC reiterated its unity and commitment to the President’s vision, assuring that it remains solidly behind his administration ahead of the next electoral cycle.
