Obi, Kwankwaso Merge Structures Under OK Movement Ahead of 2027

Support groups aligned with Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso have announced a joint political platform, unveiling what they described as a unified structure ahead of the 2027 general election.

The coalition, operating under the banner of the “OK Movement,” said it has consolidated its national and state-level structures in a bid to mobilise support across the country.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Justin Ijeh, the group framed the development as a response to Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges, including rising living costs and insecurity.

According to the statement, the initiative is designed to build a broad-based movement that transcends political, ethnic, and religious divides.

“Nigeria stands at a defining crossroads,” the statement read, adding that the unveiling of the movement’s structures marks “the birth of a coordinated, nationwide engine for systemic reform and national rebirth.”

The group said it aims to bring together Nigerians from different backgrounds under a shared vision of accountable leadership and economic recovery.

It noted that the hardship being experienced by citizens—from farmers facing security threats to entrepreneurs grappling with economic instability—underscores the need for a united political response.

The movement also stressed that it rejects identity-based politics, insisting that national progress must be driven by inclusiveness and collective responsibility.

“Our strength lies in our diversity, and our progress depends on our unity,” the statement said, adding that the platform would focus on grassroots mobilisation and building a common national identity anchored on competence and integrity.

The OK Movement further described its mission as offering a structured pathway toward reform, rather than “mere rhetoric,” while calling on Nigerians to support what it termed a new direction for the country.

While it did not formally announce a joint presidential ticket, the alignment of supporters from both camps signals early political realignments ahead of the 2027 race.
