TMG Launches Nationwide Mobilisation Ahead of May 17 Abuja Convention
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Tinubu Mega Group (TMG) has unveiled an expansive nationwide mobilisation campaign in the build-up to its National Convention scheduled for May 17, 2026, in Abuja, signalling what it describes as a major political convergence in support of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement on Monday, the group outlined a multi-pronged strategy aimed at galvanising supporters across the country, noting that the convention would mark a significant moment in Nigeria’s political landscape.
TMG, which claims to be a coalition of over 1,500 organisations spanning civil society groups, professional bodies, labour unions, artisans and grassroots networks, said the mobilisation effort would go beyond routine political engagement.
“The countdown to May 17 will not be business as usual. It will be a coordinated national build-up designed to energise supporters and place the convention at the centre of public discourse,” the group said.
According to the organisers, the campaign will feature sustained media visibility, including newspaper publications, television appearances and radio engagements across the six geopolitical zones.
“The objective is to ensure that the voices of millions of Nigerians are heard across the country,” the statement added.
On the digital front, TMG disclosed plans to deploy influencers and online communities to amplify its message through coordinated campaigns, videos and testimonials aimed at sustaining momentum ahead of the event.
The group also revealed plans for grassroots mobilisation through street-level activities such as road walks, market outreach and community rallies in various states.
In what it described as a demonstration of growing support, TMG said it would periodically release figures from an ongoing endorsement drive, with a target of presenting 20 million signatures at the convention.
As part of activities leading to the event, the group said it would embark on a national media tour and outdoor publicity campaigns to draw wider attention.
“This is not just mobilisation; it is a movement. It reflects the convergence of voices across regions and social divides. The message is clear and unmistakable,” the statement read.
TMG emphasised that all its activities would be conducted peacefully and in line with democratic norms, while calling on Nigerians to participate in what it termed a defining national moment.
With preparations intensifying, attention is gradually shifting to Abuja, where the group says the convention will showcase what it described as a broad-based endorsement of the president and a new phase in civic and political engagement in the country.
