Peter Okoye Changes Birthday Amid Rift with Twin Brother

Nigerian music star Peter Okoye has announced a change to his birthday, opting to celebrate on November 30 instead of the long-held November 18 date he shared with his twin brother, Paul Okoye.

The singer, popularly known as Mr P, made the announcement in a post on X, asking fans and associates to take note of the new date.

“November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote. “My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding.”

The move marks a symbolic shift for the 44-year-old entertainer, who was born on November 18, 1981, and had for decades celebrated alongside his twin as part of their shared identity.

Peter had earlier hinted at the change in a brief post, saying he was “officially changing” his birthday date, a statement that sparked reactions among fans before the full announcement.

The development comes against the backdrop of a renewed rift between the twin brothers, who rose to fame as the now-defunct music duo Psquare.

The siblings first split in 2017 following disagreements over the role of their elder brother and former manager, Jude Okoye. Although they reconciled in 2021 and returned to the stage with a headline concert, tensions resurfaced in 2024, leading to another breakup.

In the latest fallout, Paul alleged that Peter had a hand in his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, while Peter, in turn, raised concerns over alleged irregularities in their former management structure.

The renewed dispute has since played out publicly, with both sides trading accusations and engaging in legal disagreements.

While Peter did not directly link his decision to change his birthday to the ongoing feud, observers see the move as another indication of the widening gap between the once inseparable twins.
