Olubadan’s Praise Shows Growing Support for Tinubu’s Security Drive – TMSG

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has described the commendation of President Bola Tinubu by the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, over the successful rescue of abducted schoolchildren and their teachers in Oyo State as a sign of growing public confidence in the administration’s security strategy.

TMSG said Ladoja’s praise, particularly his recognition of improved coordination among security agencies, reflected the impact of stronger intelligence gathering and inter-agency cooperation in the fight against terrorism and kidnapping.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group said the Oyo abduction incident demonstrated the value of decisive leadership and coordinated security operations.

Ladoja, who led traditional rulers from Oyo State on a courtesy visit to the President, had commended Tinubu for refusing to negotiate with the abductors’ demand for the release of detained terrorist leaders in exchange for the victims.

TMSG said the Olubadan’s remarks were significant because they reflected what it described as a broader shift in public perception of the Federal Government’s handling of insecurity.

“For us, Oba Ladoja’s remarks are indicative of the overwhelming opinions of many Nigerians irrespective of region or religion on the feat, with a clamour for its replication across the country,” the group stated.

It added that the successful rescue had generated expressions of relief and renewed confidence among Nigerians who had become accustomed to reports of abductions and terrorist attacks.

The group also drew attention to the prosecution of terrorism suspects, describing the pace of recent arraignments and judgments as evidence of a more focused approach to tackling violent crime.

According to TMSG, several suspects, including alleged commanders of the Ansaru terrorist group, had been arraigned, with some pleading guilty and receiving judgments within relatively short periods.

It argued that the swift handling of such cases was important in reinforcing the rule of law and ensuring that victims of terrorism received justice.

TMSG urged the Federal Government to sustain the momentum by strengthening intelligence-led operations and maintaining close coordination among security agencies.

The group said the Oyo rescue should serve as a model for tackling similar security challenges across the country, particularly kidnapping and terrorism.

It also linked the growing confidence in Nigeria’s security efforts to international recognition, citing recent commendation from United States President Donald Trump.

Trump, according to TMSG, had acknowledged Tinubu’s efforts to combat terrorism and make Nigeria safer, describing the recognition as significant validation of the administration’s security agenda since it assumed office in May 2023.

TMSG maintained that improved intelligence, inter-agency collaboration, decisive leadership and swift prosecution were necessary to sustain the gains being recorded in the fight against insecurity.

It therefore urged the administration to build on the current momentum and ensure that the emerging security improvements are sustained across all parts of the country.
