President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections, appointing former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary.

The composition of the council was announced on Saturday in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Tinubu will serve as chairman of the campaign council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima will be vice chairman. APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, was also named a vice chairman.

Yari’s appointment places him at the centre of the party’s campaign machinery, while Uzodimma will coordinate the council’s secretariat as preparations intensify for the 2027 presidential contest.

Segun Dada, who previously handled the New Media portfolio during the 2022 campaign, returns as Director of New Media, while Solomon Arowolo will serve as Secretary, New Media.

The campaign council also named five spokespersons, with Dele Alake as lead spokesperson. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

According to the statement, President Tinubu has charged members of the council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

He also directed leaders of the various directorates to accommodate other party members who may not have been listed in the initial composition but are willing to contribute to the campaign.

Tinubu urged the campaign team to take the message of his administration’s achievements to Nigerians as the election season approaches.

“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress,” the President said.

He added that Nigeria was moving beyond its economic difficulties and urged the campaign council to communicate the administration’s achievements while presenting its vision for the country.

“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation,” Tinubu said.

The President further charged the council to defeat opposition forces at the polls, saying the APC must prevent any attempt to reverse the direction of the country.
