Daily Times Honours APC Chair Yilwatda as Politician of the Year

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has been honoured as the Daily Times Nigeria @100 Politician of the Year for his leadership, public service and contributions to national development.

The recognition is part of activities marking the centenary of Daily Times Nigeria and will be formally presented to Yilwatda at the Times Heroes Awards scheduled for September 3, 2026, at the ThisDay Dome, Abuja.

The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, describing the award as a prestigious recognition of the party chairman’s leadership and service to the country.

Morka said the award was part of the newspaper’s 100th anniversary celebration, which seeks to recognise Nigerians who have made notable contributions to national development.

“The All Progressives Congress is pleased to announce that the Party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has been named the recipient of the Daily Times Nigeria @100 Politician of the Year Award,” he said.

As part of the centenary celebration, Yilwatda will also be featured in the commemorative Nigerian Grand Book, a national souvenir highlighting distinguished Nigerians and their contributions to the country.

The APC chairman’s recognition comes as the ruling party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections and seeks to consolidate its political structure across the country.

Yilwatda assumed the leadership of the APC at a crucial period for the party, with the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu implementing economic and institutional reforms while the party prepares for another electoral contest.

The Times Heroes Awards ceremony is expected to bring together political leaders, public officials, business executives and other prominent Nigerians as part of the activities marking the newspaper’s 100 years of publication.
