The All Progressives Congress (APC) will on Monday, August 31, reopen its electronic membership registration exercise across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday, urging existing members, supporters and intending members to participate in the exercise.
According to Morka, the registration will be conducted across all wards nationwide, with existing members required to validate their membership while new members will be able to enrol.
The party said the exercise was part of efforts to strengthen its membership structure and improve the management of its records ahead of the 2027 elections.
It stated that prospective registrants must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
The APC said the electronic registration system was intended to replace cumbersome processes associated with maintaining a conventional membership register and provide the party with a more reliable database.
According to the statement, the exercise will “digitise the Party’s membership register” and improve the integrity and accuracy of membership records.
The party said a centralised electronic database would also give its leadership more efficient access to membership information required for planning and administrative decisions.
It added that the initiative was designed to promote internal democracy and strengthen the APC’s use of technology in managing its affairs.
The party called on its stakeholders and supporters to take advantage of the exercise, particularly those who are already members but have yet to validate their membership electronically.
The reopening comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the APC seeking to consolidate its nationwide structure and expand its membership base.
The party urged both old and new members to participate in the exercise, describing the registration as an important step towards strengthening its organisational capacity and internal democratic processes.
The APC also said the initiative reflected its commitment to “democratic innovation in Nigeria”, adding that accurate membership data would support more effective decision-making and party management.
