The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a five-hour power interruption in parts of Kogi State as it carries out annual preventive maintenance at its Ajaokuta 330/132kV Transmission Substation.

The maintenance exercise is scheduled for Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 10:00am to 3:00pm, according to a statement issued by TCN management on Monday.

The company said the exercise would enable its maintenance crew to work on the bay switchgear and associated equipment on the 132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Line 1.

As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take electricity for distribution to customers in Adogo, Anyigba, Ganaja and adjoining areas during the maintenance period.

TCN said the interruption was necessary to allow the scheduled work to be carried out safely and effectively, adding that electricity supply would resume immediately after the exercise is completed.

The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected communities for the inconvenience the temporary interruption might cause.

The maintenance is part of TCN’s annual preventive programme for its transmission facilities, aimed at keeping critical equipment in good operating condition and supporting the reliability of the national transmission network.
