Giadom Pays Tribute to Orbih, Hails Late PDP Chieftain’s Courage

The National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Victor Giadom, has paid tribute to the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing him as a courageous politician, bridge-builder and an illustrious son of Edo State.

Giadom, in a condolence statement signed on Wednesday, expressed deep sadness over the death of Orbih, whom he described as a brother, compatriot and dear friend.

He extended his condolences to Orbih’s wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and the entire Orbih family.

According to Giadom, the late politician’s influence went beyond his membership of the PDP, stressing that he shared a long and cherished relationship with him.

“Chief Orbih was not merely a political associate; he was a brother and compatriot with whom I shared a long, fond and deeply cherished history,” Giadom said.

He described Orbih as a man of warmth, courage, wisdom and generosity, adding that his commitment to public service left an enduring impression on those who knew him.

Giadom also recalled Orbih’s involvement in the cross-party political movement known as the “Rainbow Coalition”, championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

He said the late PDP chieftain was a critical stakeholder in the coalition and worked with others in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

According to him, Orbih’s role in the political movement demonstrated his ability to look beyond partisan interests and build bridges for what he considered the larger interest of Nigeria.

“His contributions to that effort reflected his political sagacity, commitment and willingness to build bridges beyond partisan lines in the larger interest of Nigeria,” he stated.

Beyond politics, Giadom noted that Orbih earned considerable respect across various communities, as reflected in the numerous traditional titles bestowed on him during his lifetime.

He listed some of the titles as The Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land, The Oduma of Uzairue, The Agbokhaivho II of Avianwu Clan, Enakhaimhoi of Anegbete, Esama of Uromi and Eze Oha 1 of Mburubu.

Giadom said the honours were a reflection of the respect, recognition and esteem Orbih commanded across communities.

He described the deceased as an “illustrious son, a bridge-builder and a man of considerable courage, character and influence”, saying his death had created a void that would be difficult to fill.

He added that while Orbih’s physical departure would be deeply felt, his contributions to public life and the memories he created would remain with those who knew him.

Giadom prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family, friends, political associates and other mourners the strength to bear the loss.

“Rest in peace, my brother and compatriot. Your memory will remain cherished, and you will be deeply missed,” he said.
