

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old suspect over the alleged defilement of a five-year-old girl, with a medical examination confirming penetration.
The suspect reportedly confessed to the offence and is being investigated by detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Ogun State.
The arrest was disclosed in the Nigeria Police Force’s(NPF’s) Top 10 State-by-State Executive Summary of Operational Successes for October 11, 2026, signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CSP Ani Iniedu.
According to the report, detectives arrested the suspect following the incident involving the five-year-old girl. The medical examination confirmed penetration, while the suspect voluntarily confessed to the offence.
The police did not disclose the identities of the suspect and the victim or provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
In a related development, police detectives in Ogun State arrested two suspects over the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl.
The victim was taken for medical examination, while the suspects remained in custody as investigations continued.
NPF also arrested two suspects in connection with an assault that resulted in the death of a 46-year-old man. The suspects were reportedly assisting detectives with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.
The three cases are being investigated by detectives at the SCID, Eleweran.
Meanwhile, police operations across other states resulted in the arrest of suspected cultists, a suspected cult leader and alleged vandals, among other suspects.
In Lagos State, police tactical operatives arrested four suspected cultists in Ilogbo, Apapa Road, following intelligence reports that they were preparing to launch a reprisal attack. The operatives recovered quantities of substances suspected to be illicit drugs from the suspects.
In a separate operation in Orile, police arrested two suspected cultists during a raid on criminal hideouts and recovered a locally made pistol from one of them. The suspect was also linked to an earlier shooting incident.
In Akwa Ibom State, police operatives arrested a suspected cult leader allegedly connected to an earlier cult-related incident. According to the report, previously arrested gang members identified the suspect as their leader and the owner of a recovered firearm.
In Taraba State, detectives arrested two principal suspects over an attack on a police outstation and the vandalism of parts of the facility. The police said photographs of the damaged outpost and injured cattle were documented as investigations continued.
In the Federal Capital Territory, police surveillance operatives arrested a suspect allegedly caught vandalising a solar streetlight pole. They also arrested a suspected receiver of the vandalised materials, while efforts continued to apprehend another alleged accomplice.
In Delta State, police arrested drivers involved in two separate fatal incidents along the Asaba-Benin Expressway. One case involved a fatal road traffic accident in which two vehicles were recovered for inspection, while the other involved a pedestrian who died after being struck by a vehicle.
Police traffic operatives documented both scenes and commenced investigations. The cases are being handled by the State Motor Traffic Division in Asaba.
The police said investigations into the reported offences were ongoing across the affected states.
