Sule Lamido to Wike: “You are not above PDP because you fund it”

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sule Lamido, has stated that Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), though an asset to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), should not exert undue control over the party.

Lamido made the comment in an interview with ThisDay newspaper published on Sunday, January 28.

He said: “Wike is an asset to the party, but he needs to be refined in his ways.

“Let me tell you, the party is supreme, and no individual is above the party.

“So, I don’t think Wike should pocket PDP because you can’t pocket your own mother. Before Wike, PDP was being financed; before Wike, PDP was buying wrapper to cover its nakedness.”

Lamido stressed the need for unity within the party, discouraging any individual, including influential figures like Wike, from considering themselves above the collective interests of the PDP.

“If you say that you bought clothes or wrappers for your mother, does it mean that before you were born, your mother was without clothes?” he questioned.

Wike has been having a running battle with several PDP chieftains after his appointment as the FCT minister by President Bola Tinubu.

Many of the party stalwarts have asked the former governor of Rivers state to quit the PDP since he now serves in a government by the ruling All Progressives Congress.
