ECOWAS Mediation Delegation Arrives Niger

As part of the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS mediation policy to restore democracy in the region, a delegation of ECOWAS led by a former President of Nigeria, General Abdulsalami Abubakar has arrived Niger.
Also in the delegation, include a famous religious leader from Nigeria, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar, and the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Omar Touray, received by members of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP) and the Prime Minister of the Transition at the Diori Hamani International Airport in Niamey.
The delegation will meet with the Nigerien military leader, General Abdourahmane Tchiani to discuss ways of alleviating the suffering of the people occasioned by the July 26 coup, sanctions imposed on the republic of Niger by the ECOWAS authorities.
