Fayose debunks rumoured resignation from PDP.

Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has denied rumors of his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He made this statement during an episode of Channels Television’s Hard Copy, a prerecorded show that is transmitted on Friday nights.

“The moment I am not in the PDP, I would never join another political party,” he said. “And I would never be a member of the APC – not whether they are good or bad.”

Fayose emphasized the importance of unity within the PDP and urged its members to come together to rebuild the party. He pointed out that the PDP came in second place in the recent presidential election and therefore needs to work towards regaining its position of power.

Furthermore, Fayose reiterated his belief that it would be unfair for the northern region of Nigeria to continue producing the president. He argued that it is time for the southern part of the country to have a chance at leadership.

Meanwhile, he cautioned the main opposition party not to expel Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State.

It should be noted that Wike was involved in activities that went against the party’s interests during the 2023 presidential election. However, he has now been appointed as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by President Bola Tinubu.

“Some people say fight Wike, expel Wike, sack Wike. I think they do that at their own peril. You see, the first thing in your family even when you have extreme situations or indifferences, is not to drive away your wife or husband. Wike is a force in the PDP and beyond PDP, a force you cannot ignore,” he stated.

“Ignore Wike, sack Wike, or fight Wike at your own peril. He is a man of capacity,” he added.
