Otti promises to rebuild Aba with top-notch infrastructure.

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti has reiterated his dedication to guaranteeing the revitalization of Aba City. 

He revealed this during his address on Friday at the inauguration of Cemetery Road Aba, which was among the three roads he commissioned the same day. 

Among the projects inaugurated were Shalom, Cemetery and Emelogu Roads. 

The governor, accompanied by his deputy, Engineer Ikechukwu Emetu, and several members of the State Executive Council (SEC), began by expressing gratitude to the residents of Aba for their steadfast support and fervent faith in this administration, stating: 

“Thank you for not giving up, for your courage in accompanying us through the wilderness and for being resolute in your conviction that things cannot remain the way it had been over the last two decades and a few more years.” 

He said further to guarantee them that every best would be put in place to repay the trust and confidence they had on His administration.  

“We will commit everything available to us to guarantee that what is delivered to Aba in terms of infrastructural development, social investment programs and economic expansion are exactly what u ordered; you can take it for granted that under my watch, Aba will be rebuilt with world-class infrastructure like the ones we are commissioning here today and social investment tools to support the long standing tradition of commerce and enterprise.” 

The governor revealed his plan to open up the city for private investors to move in, while taking advantage of the enormous material resources which the town is blessed with, in order to introduce means of wealth multiplication for economic and social precedence in Aba. 

He also noted the proven contribution of contemporary investment on road projects in enabling economic enhancements 

While informing the public that the purpose of the commissioning was not to gain any political advantages, he clarified that the inauguration aimed to motivate individuals who had departed from Aba to consider coming back and also to entice potential investors to the city. 

The governor mentioned the Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, which he said would be completed soon with the workforce already extracted from the Federal Government, which will in part contribute to the rebirth of Aba. 

He said: “We have a plan to build transport hubs, family-friendly recreational facilities and ICT innovation parks in different parts of Aba and across the state,” 

adding that the state government was partnering with investors to build a world-class hotel and conference center in Aba at the Enyimba Hotels location.  

“The goal is to turn Aba into a modern echo-system that can attract and retain the best brains in businesses, ICT, house and entertainment and just about every worthwhile human endeavour; our plan for Aba is holistic and all we shall require is your consistent support to achieve that lofty agenda.” 

The governor condemned the extortions taking place in the market, including touting of all sorts, while reminding the residents that their security is guaranteed. He emphasized that a joint security task force had been launched to ensure the eradication of criminals, creating a conducive environment for thriving commercial activities.

He said further: “We shall never tolerate such again and anyone who becomes instrumental to any of these must be brought to book.”
