LASTMA officers indicted for corruption, faces dismissal, rank reduction, compulsory retirement

Eleven out of the 12 of­ficers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) referred to the panel of investigation for various offences and indicted have been recommend­ed for compulsory re­tirement, dismissal and reduction in ranks.

The Officers faced the panel of investigation for corrupt practices and absenteeism.

Adebayo Taofiq, Di­rector, of the Public Af­fairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA who disclosed in a state­ment  said the panel reports recommended dismissal, reduction in rank, and compulsory retirement of the officers.

He said: “Operatives of the Lagos State Traf­fic Management Author­ity (LASTMA) on Thurs­day, November 30, 2023, arraigned 12 officers before the disciplinary panel for various offens­es bothering on corrupt practices and absen­teeism in line with the extant rules as guided by the Lagos State civil service rules and regu­lations.”

Also, the Acting General Manager of LASTMA, Bakare Oki Olalekan disclosed that the disciplinary panel which was statutorily constituted with three Permanent Secretaries in attendance, adjudi­cated cases of corrupt practices against the officers and forwarded their recommendations to the State Civil Service Commission for ratifica­tion.

Oki said the panel rec­ommended various pun­ishments ranging from dismissal, reduction in ranks, and immediate termination of appoint­ments.
