Interior Minister fixes January 8 for commencement of passport automation process

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has announced that the automation process for Nigerian passport applications will commence on January 8.
Tunji-Ojo said this during an inspection of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) facilities in Abuja on Monday.
The minister, who was accompanied by the Comptroller General of the Service, Wura-Ola Adepoju, said that this development signifies that Nigerians will have the opportunity to apply for and complete their passport application process online, eliminating the need for direct human contact.
“We are fully prepared to launch. Training is underway, and by January 8, the system will be operational, offering Nigerians a seamless and efficient experience, in line with Mr. President’s vision,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
“We have significantly minimized human interaction in the passport acquisition process.”
