Nasarawa: Miyetti Allah flags off security outfits to combat security challenges

Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association has inaugurated security outfits in Nasarawa state to work in synergy with security agencies at the grassroots level to tackle incessant security challenges confronting the state, especially kidnapping and terrorism.

The national president of tqhe association, Abdullahi Bello Bodejo inaugurated the security outfits in Lafia known as the Nomad Vigilante Group with 1,144 personnel.

He said that the primary objective of the Nomad vigilante Group is to help secure the livelihoods of farmers and herders, aid in information gathering and intelligence to the Nigerian security agencies of criminals and criminal activities within the local communities as well as encourage peace in rural communities.

He said: “We wish to assure all concerned that the Nomad vigilante group volunteers were carefully selected, screened, profiled and will operate within the arm bit of the law. It is not created to replace or undermine the efforts of our existing security agencies but rather to purely complement their work for the greater good of our country.

“The sole purpose of creating this outfit is to ensure peace, and harmony and to assist in addressing the serious levels of insecurity that have plagued our great nation which we condemned in totality

“In recognising the pivotal role they play, we wish to appeal for a more formalise integration into the state security ecosystem, as these volunteers are drawn from our communities, dedicating their time, and skills to ensure the security and well-being of all.”

Bodejo, who described the ceremony as historic, said: “Let it be the genesis of a new era for Nasarawa state and our dear nation. May the Nomad vigilante group serve as a beacon, guiding us towards a future where our communities are fortified, our security is unwavering, and peace prevails. With gratitude, determination, and a shared vision, let us embark on this transformative journey together.”

Also speaking, the national secretary of the association, Engr Saleh Alhassan explained further that the initiative is the manifestation of a shared commitment to economic prosperity, job creation, inclusivity, and the relentless fight against banditry, cattle rustling, hunger, and poverty.

He stated: “This will emerge as a formidable force dedicated to establishing a sense of security that transcends the mere absence of conflict; rather about cultivating an environment where the vibrancy of our communities can flourish, and our people can pursue their livelihoods without fear or hindrance”

“As we navigate the complex terrain of security challenges, we confront head-on the menace of cattle rustling and banditry that has plagued our rural landscape, the Nomad vigilante group will serve as a proactive stance against these threats by facilitating our economic prosperity, shielding our farmers and herders and other communities in Nigeria from the shadows of insecurity.”

The police commissioner in the state, represented by the Assistant Commissioner Operations, Abdulaziz Aliyu, said they will operate with the group within the ambit of the law.

The event witnessed the representative of the Nigerian Army, Civil Defense, and other security agencies.
