Legendary Fuji Star, General Kollington gets better after health scare

Legendary Fuji singer Alhaji Abdulrasaq Kolawole Ilori aka General Ayinla Kollington is doing well after a health scare that got many of his family members, fans, friends, and associates worried.

On Friday, January 16, the town was agog with the tale of Kollington’s ill health. Those close to the ‘IjoYoyo’ star inferred that Ayinla took ill on Monday, January 15 and was admitted at the  Lagos State University Teaching Hospital ( LASUTH).

‘Kebe Kwara’ as he’s fondly called by his fans’ condition was said to have been so critical within the week to the extent that he had to be placed on oxygen. However, he responded fast to treatment and was taken off the oxygen.

While fans and well wishers are still unsure of what the ailment of Kollington, he is now doing fine following the health scare.

Kollingon was so overjoyed with the treatment he got from LASUTH that he did a special video to express his gratitude. He thanked Adetokunbo Fabanwo, the Chief Medical Director of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and the management, where he was admitted and treated for taking care of him in the hospital. 

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his fans cum well wishers for their assistance during the illness that caused panic amongst his family and close associates.

75-year-old Kollington was born into the home of Chief Ayanda Ilori, a Kingmaker and Alhaja Asiawu Mofodeke Ilori in Ilota, a town on the outskirts of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, on August 20, 1949. 

Once married to fellow singer, Salawa Abeni, Kollington has recorded and released over 100 albums in the last five decades.
