Wigwe, Access Holdings CEO Dies In Helicopter Crash

The CEO of Access Holdings, Dr Herbert Wigwe is dead.

He was killed in a helicopter crash with about five others in California, United States on Friday night.

It has been confirmed that his wife and son and former Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo were among the five others in the crash.

Sources said the chopper was headed to Las Vegas when it crashed near a border city between Nevada and California on Friday night. The US government confirmed all on board dead.

Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe was born 15 August 1966 in Ibadan.

He was until his demise the CEO of Access Holdings Plc, traded as Access Corporation.

He was the Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank plc, one of Nigeria’s top five banking institutions, after succeeding his business partner, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede in January 2014 till April 2022.
