6th Annual Conference: AFRPN to X-ray unconstitutional change of government in W/Africa

Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria (AFRPN) has designed its 6th annual conference to deliberate among other things, issues bordering on unconstitutional change of government in West Africa.

In a statement signed on Friday by the association’s president, Amb (Dr) Gani Lawal, ffrp, he said the association is known for its determination to impact foreign policy options of Nigeria in a positive way.

According to Dr. Gani, the pre-event press conference will be coming up on Wednesday, 20th of March at the Association’s Secretariat.

“I wish to announce for purposeful and general information that the Association of Foreign Relations Professionals of Nigeria (AFRPN), which consists of retired and serving Nigerian diplomats and all stakeholders in the business of Foreign Relations, has concluded an arrangement to present the 6th in the series of its annual lecture /conference. 

“To this end you are invited to the pre event press conference of the association that will take place on Wednesday, the 20th of March, 2024 at 11.30 am in the AFRPN Secretariat at Suite 9 CANAL HOUSE, plot 1462 Abogo Lergama Street, Near Churchgate Towers, at the turning of peace and conflict resolution Institute, Central Business District, Abuja. FCT.

“The association is poised to and had been impacting the foreign policy options of Nigeria in a positive way from the perspectives of intellectual brain storming exercise of its experienced members and practitioners on topical issues through lectures, workshops and publications as well as mentoring of upcoming diplomats.

“This 6th annual lectures/conference which is designed to interrogate issues of the moment by experienced practitioner is a salutary manifestation of the vision and mission of the Association. The topic for this year’s lecture is “Unconstitutional change of government and attainment of AU63 Agenda and UN SDGs – The case of West Africa and the Sahel Subregion”.

He also noted that the topic just like the five before it “has been carefully chosen to create opportunity to listen to the perspectives of a nodal International Relations professional who had been following and researching into the historical antecedent and outcome of issues, actions and inactions that led to this development. The guest lecturer is no less a personality than the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Her Excellency Hajiya Amina Muhammed GCON.”

Dr. Gani stated further that the main event will take place at 3. P.M, in the Rotunda  of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Balewa House, Federal Secretariat on Tuesday the 26th of March 2024. 

National Periscope also gathered that the special guest of honour is the 15th Vice President of the Federation Alhaji Kashim Mustapha Shettima GCON while the royal father of the day is the 14th Emir of Kano who is also the Royal Patron of the association and the scion of Nigeria’s foreign policy.

“We also expect heads of Institutions and agencies dealing with issues and matters across the frontiers of the nation such as Chief of Defense Staff, DG NIA, Comptrollers general of the custom and that of the Immigration and the Commandant of the Defense College.

“All heads of diplomatic missions and the CEO of all MDAs are expected to be in attendance. The chairmen House and Senate committees on Foreign Affairs will also be in attendance. All the members of the association both serving and retired are expected to be seated,” he stated.
