Marginalisation: BYC knocks Mayaki for backing Niger Delta Minister against Edo South
The Benin Youth Council (BYC) has berated Mayaki for his antagonistic response over its petition against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Abubakar Momoh on the alleged marginalisation of Edo South in the allotment of projects by the ministry.
In a statement signed it’s National Co-ordinator, Surv. Ugiagbe Omosigho and a copy made available to National Periscope, the group expressed its disappointment in Mayaki for supporting what it described as an obvious injustice to the Benin Nation.
Ugiagbe added that the glaring evidence of nepotism was the reason the Minister could not appear before the House Committee on Public Petitions and no amount of efforts by a “scavenging” journalist can cover that up.
The statement read: “Mr. Mayaki’s antagonistic response to Benin National Congress petition against the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs’s rapacious appropriation of oil and gas host communities of Edo South in favor of his Edo North non-oil producing senatorial district – clearly signifies a phenomenal rise of social media scalawags — Being the title of the Benin Youth Council’s rebuttal to the leaders and patron clientele of the faceless group peddled by Mayaki and his co- travellers. Wednesday 27th March, 2024.
“The attention of the Benin Youth Council (B.Y.C), has been drawn to the misrepresentations made by one Mayaki titled “Disregard Blackmailers, Ethnic Chauvinists, Mayaki Urges Niger Delta Minister”
“We like to very quickly and succinctly establish here that the collective interests of the Benin nation in the allotment of projects by Niger Delta Affairs Ministry is not a matter for a paid writer like Mayaki to flaunt his stinking pen. To say the least, it is quite unfortunate for a matter of this magnitude to be subjected to this level of insensitivity and political grandstanding where scavenging writers spew invectives and spread ignorance.
“We wish to put it on record, that the injustice done to the Benin nation by the Mr .Abubakar Momoh led Niger Delta Affairs Ministry is not only in public domain but also before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions, and even the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We have it on good authority that on the 7th of March , 2024, Mayaki’s pay master, tacitly refused to honour the summon extended to him and the ministry to appear before the House Committee on Public Petitions for lack of facts and evidence to support or back up his nepotistic machinations against the people of Edo South Senatorial District, the goose that lays the golden eggs, for whose reason the Ministry was set up in the first place.
“It is an established fact that the unwholesome activities of meddlesome interlopers or busy bodies, hired scavenging writers of this nature have given impetus to government officials to undermine their callings and oath of office, thereby cutting corners to hoodwink the people of their inalienable rights and privileges.
“People like Mayaki ought not to have been born at all, for he is a quintessential disgrace to the fourth estate of the realm for peddling falsehoods and concocting expressions that are unfounded but shameless and throwing tantrums at our Trojans and worthy ambassadors in the Benin National Congress worldwide.”
The group noted that Edo South, which is the oil producing area, is expected to benefit more than the North in the spirit of justice and not otherwise.
“Moving forward, we are also not unaware of how the Minister has given all Twenty slots for employment meant for Edo State to only his Edo North Senatorial District people, without considering others from Edo South and Central Senatorial districts. This is nepotistic injustice taken too far and yet one lobotomized writer still conjures that shameless temerity of his to cast aspersion on our people for demanding justice, equity and fairness in the ministry’s discharge of its Constitutional responsibilities.
“In the light of the aforementioned, we like to reiterate the solidarity of all true Benins, and all men and women in the whole world – who are disposed to justice, equity, transparency and fairness – are firmly and irrevocably behind the agitation of the Benin National Congress worldwide against the senseless appropriation of 5 capital projects by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in the non-oil and gas senatorial district of Edo North, against Edo South senatorial district that is the only oil producing senatorial district in Edo State.
“If the rumor making the rounds that Mr. Abubakar Momoh is behind financial aids to the growing number of social media scalawags that have been writing fable articles to discredit the House of Representatives Public Petitions Committee leadership – for summoning the Minister after he ignored its first summon on 7th of March, it means he is a monumental embarrassment to the President Tinubu administration, and a total misfit to hold such an exalted public office.
“For the information of this bunch of social media scalawags, Benin National Congress worldwide existence is two decades old, with outstanding antecedents of prolific and strategic interventions for the Nigerian public. Please, do a Google check on it. Between 2006 and 2008, the Benin National Congress worldwide provided moral, financial and social support to Mr. Abubakar Momoh’s godfather who is from Edo North senatorial district to become Edo State Governor.
“That is how de-tribalized the BNC is. Instead, your group should be joining the BNC to ensure the immediate and unconditional redistribution of the 5 capital projects in the ratio of 70% in favor of Edo South senatorial district, and 30% in favor of Edo North and Edo Central senatorial districts respectively. But, as a group of unemployable elements, you are yielding to the lumpen petty bourgeois Minister, so you sustain your unreasonable means of livelihood,” the BYC national co-ordinator stated.
