In a bold declaration, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has asserted that the party is poised for a landslide victory in the 2027 elections.
The former Kano governor said this on Tuesday, in his remarks during the maiden policy round-table titled “The Asiwaju Scorecard Series,” organized by the APC Professionals Forum, in Abuja.
Addressing the gathering, Ganduje expressed gratitude to the APC Professionals Forum for organizing the event, which he described as crucial for sensitizing Nigerians about the policies and achievements of the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“I consider this round-table as part of your contribution to sensitize Nigerians to understand some of the policies and programmes of this administration, as well as to appreciate the modest achievements so far recorded,” Ganduje said.
He highlighted significant strides in transforming the Nigerian economy into a credit-based consumer economy, which he believes will improve agriculture, food security, infrastructure, and access to education. Ganduje noted, “Our economy is now gradually being transformed into a credit-based consumer economy that will improve agriculture, with emphasis on dry season farming.”
The APC Chairman also emphasized the administration’s shift towards renewable and sustainable energy sources, noting the successful implementation of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cheap and clean energy alternative. Additionally, he detailed the approval of numerous infrastructure projects, including major road constructions and housing developments across the country.
“Infrastructure projects such as the Kano-Abuja Road, the 700 Km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, and the 3500 Units Renewed Hope Housing Cities and Estates now being built in 13 states are just a few examples of the transformative work being undertaken,” Ganduje stated.
On education, Ganduje said the Students Loan Fund would soon become operational, enabling Nigerian youth to access higher education more easily. He also reported a significant increase in the country’s power transmission capacity, now peaking at 14,000 megawatts.
Ganduje shared insights into the party’s internal restructuring efforts, aimed at making the APC a truly grassroots progressive party. He emphasized the importance of functional offices in every political ward and state, ensuring continuous party activities beyond election periods. “We are gradually restructuring our party into a truly grassroots progressive party,” he declared.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the APC’s ideals and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure another mandate in the 2027 elections.
“Even though it is not yet an election period, we are reinvigorating that party to ensure that come 2027, we will retain and get new state governor’s, as well as Mr President to secure another mandate to continue with his government’s policies and programmes.
“We have also constituted at the national level a Reconciliation Committee that would reconcile all aggrieved Party members, and such a committee will be established at the state, local government and ward levels.” Ganduje assured.
