Rivers State APC Elective Congress to Proceed as Scheduled Amid Legal Developments
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State is set to hold its long-anticipated Elective Congress on Saturday, November 16, 2024, following a legal ruling that has cleared the way for the event to proceed.
The National Organizing Secretary of APC, Alh. Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu,
confirmed the news in an official statement released on Friday, highlighting the recent developments in the legal dispute that threatened to derail the Congress.
“The Rivers State High Court has vacated the ex-parte order that previously restrained our party from conducting the congress. There is now no legal barrier preventing the APC from organizing the Rivers State Elective Congress,” Argungu stated.
The ruling came in relation to Suit No: PHC/2699/CS/2024, filed by Peter Ohochukwu and others against His Excellency Abdullahi Ganduje and five other respondents. The court’s decision to vacate the order is seen as a crucial step towards ensuring a fair and democratic process within the party.
“In light of this development, the APC will proceed with the Congress, reaffirming its commitment to due process and the rule of law,” the statement added.
