APC Commiserates With Victims of Niger Tanker Explosion
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed profound sorrow over the recent tanker explosion in Niger State that resulted in significant loss of life and injuries. In an official statement signed, Sunday, by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, the APC extended its heartfelt condolences to those affected by the tragic incident.
“We deeply condole with the bereaved families and wish those injured a speedy recovery,” the statement read.
Morka further emphasized the party’s solidarity with the government and the people of Niger State during this difficult time.
“We applaud the spirited and patriotic efforts of emergency relief agencies at mitigating the impact of the unfortunate incident,” APC stated.
The ill-fated tanker was reported to have overturned at a junction while transporting fuel from Kaduna to Gwagwalada, spilling its contents in the vicinity.
Despite warnings for residents to maintain a safe distance, many reportedly gathered to scoop spilled fuel, leading to a catastrophic explosion that claimed the lives of approximately 80 individuals and left many more injured.
According to local authorities, 55 people sustained injuries as a result of the explosion and are currently receiving medical treatment. The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), in cooperation with Gurara local government officials and community volunteers, organized a mass burial for the victims, which began at 5pm on Saturday and continued until midnight.
The APC therefore shared its thoughts and prayers with grieving families and the entire Niger community, stating, “Our profound thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with the grieving families and the entire state at this difficult moment. May the souls of the departed find rest. Amen.”
