Nigeria Congratulates Gambia on Her Independence Anniversary

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has extended his warmest congratulations to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Hon. Dr. Mamadou Tangara on the joyous occasion of their Independence Anniversary.

In a statement signed on Tuesday, by the Acting Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the Minister commemorated the significant milestone in Gambia’s history while celebrating the remarkable progress and resilience that the country has demonstrated over the years.

Tuggar therefore restated Nigeria’s commitment to the long-standing relationship shared by the two countries which is rooted in a common vision for a prosperous and united Africa.

The statement partly read:

“Nigeria and The Gambia share a long-standing relationship rooted in mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for a prosperous and united Africa.

“We remain committed to strengthening these ties while collaborating closely on regional and global issues for the benefit of our people. Therefore, on this special day, we reaffirm our solidarity with the Government and People of The Gambia and look forward to deepening our bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

“We therefore wish the government and the people of The Gambia, peace, prosperity, progress and Nigeria’s continuing friendship and support.”
