Akpabio’s Response to Natasha’s Petitions Shows No Skeleton to Hide- APC Professionals

JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

A professional group under the banner of APC Professionals Network (APN), has said the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio’s humility while receiving Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition has proven he has no skeleton to hide.

In a statement by the president of the professionals, Victor Walsh Oluwafemi, it was stated that a man in the mould of the Senate President with such a humble background obviously cannot be involved in such an allegation leveled against him.

He had on Wednesday openly declared that at no time in his entire life has he been involved in any sexual harassment.

He went ahead to narrate his humble background how his mother singlehandedly raised him and his siblings.
Oluwafemi noted that:
“Our major concern here is that the legislature is one of the oldest arm of government that is far bigger than any individual and should be treated as a sacred institution.

“There are laid down legislative procedures which the Senate President adequately followed, if he had done otherwise tongues would have wagged and insinuations laced with various meanings.

But in this case he simply invoked the necessary instrument of power being the custodian of the Senate chamber.”

According to APN, the development has been greatly misinterpreted in many quarters and a heavy allegation leveled against the Senate President.

“Nigerians should first and foremost consider the sanctity of the institution, it should not be dragged into the mud in the name of highly wired politics.

“From all indications, the Senate President has nothing to hide as he has directed that the appropriate committees should kickstart the probe.

“We candidly advice Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to slow down because she is turning this whole thing to theatre causing embarrassment to the country

“Peace should be allowed to prevail as the various committees involved should be allowed to do their work,” Olufemi said.
