President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Dr. Obayomi Olukayode Gregory as the Pioneer Registrar of the newly established Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

This was disclosed recently, in a statement signed by the President’s Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.

As a principal officer, Dr. Gregory will play a foundational role in setting up the university’s administrative structures, policies, and governance frameworks.

A highly experienced administrator, security expert, and public relations professional, Dr. Gregory brings a wealth of expertise spanning academia, governance, and institutional leadership. His career, which includes key positions in university administration, government agencies, and security services, makes him well-suited for this critical national assignment.

Dr. Gregory holds a PhD in Political Science (2021) and an MSc in Peace, Conflict, and Strategic Studies (2017) from Nile University, Abuja. He also earned a Master’s in International Relations from the University of Ife (2000) and a BSc in International Relations from the same institution (1987). Further strengthening his expertise in communication and media, he completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism at the International Institute of Journalism, Abuja in November 2024.

His extensive academic background has equipped him with expertise in governance, institutional strategy, public relations, and conflict resolution—key skills that will be crucial in establishing a solid foundation for the new university.

• Provided strategic leadership in academic and administrative operations.
• Ensured institutional policies and governance frameworks were effectively implemented.
• Special Assistant to the Director General, National Mathematical Centre, Abuja
• Played a crucial role in policy development, inter-agency collaboration, and stakeholder management.
• Protocol Officer and Public Relations Officer, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)
• Managed the university’s official communications, public relations strategy, and media engagements.
• Oversaw protocol matters, enhancing the institution’s national and international visibility.
• Senior Security Officer, Nigerian State Security Service (SSS)
