Adebayo Slams Tinubu’s Security Chiefs, Calls for Urgent Change
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

At a gathering celebrating his wife’s 50th birthday in Abuja, the 2023 presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adewole Adebayo, voiced his deep concerns about the competence of President Tinubu’s security chiefs.
Surrounded by friends and family, Adebayo expressed his disappointment, stating that the current economic struggles faced by Nigerians should come as no surprise.
“We’ve seen this coming. It’s disheartening to see so many people shocked by the state of affairs. We knew these leaders were more focused on winning elections than on the serious business of governance,” Adebayo said.
He emphasized that the primary responsibility of a president is to ensure national security and the welfare of the people.
“It’s a letdown. The first duty of a president is to be the commander-in-chief. Yet, we find ourselves in a situation where insecurity is rampant, and the government seems to be failing in its most basic responsibilities,” he lamented
Adebayo, who prefers not to politicize issues of insecurity, acknowledged the delicate balance between criticism and the potential to embolden those who commit acts of violence.
“However, the incompetence of President Tinubu and his security team is glaring,” he stated firmly.
Reflecting on the president’s current trip abroad, Adebayo remarked, “If the president were truly serious about his role, he would return home to address these pressing issues. It’s time to reassess our security architecture and approach governance with the urgency it deserves.”
In a touching moment, Adebayo praised his wife, Queen Lilian Adebayo, calling her his greatest blessing and the cornerstone of his journey from boyhood to manhood. “She has been my greatest achievement,” he said, his eyes shining with affection.
The Chairman of the Forum of State Chairmen of the SDP, Femi Olaniyi Ferrari,
echoed Adebayo’s sentiments, urging Nigerians to unite under the SDP banner to reshape the nation’s narrative.
“We all feel the weight of the struggles we face in Nigeria today. We sought change, but instead, we’ve been short-changed. The economy is in dire straits,” he noted.
Ferrari appealed to all Nigerians, including the youth and market women, to join their cause.
“We need to change the political landscape,” he emphasized. “We’ve witnessed the failures of those in power regarding insecurity and economic hardship.”
Adding to the conversation, the National Secretary of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP), Chief Peter Ameh, highlighted the importance of coalition-building in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.
“Every gathering should include discussions on how we can move Nigeria forward,” he urged. “The suffering that Nigerians are enduring under this incompetent governance is something we must confront together.”
Ameh painted a stark picture of the current reality, noting, “There is hunger on the streets, and many are grappling with depression. The cost of living has skyrocketed since President Tinubu took office, with rising tariffs on electricity and data. We cannot ignore these pressing issues any longer.”
