2027: 22 Progressive Governors Endorse Tinubu as APC’s Consensus Candidate

The 22 All Progressive Congress (APC) governors, under the aegis of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), have endorsed President Bola Tinubu, as the party’s consensus presidential candidate ahead of 2027 general elections.

This was disclosed on Thursday, by the Imo State Governor who also doubles as the PGF Chairman, Hope Uzodinma, at the APC National Summit, held in Abuja.

The Summit, with the theme: “Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey so Far”, had in attendance the party bigwigs in solidarity with the President’s Agenda.

In his remarks, Uzodinma said the decision to endorse Tinubu was born out of the economic, social and political progress the country has made under the stewardship of the President about two years ago.

“We are aware that the Nigerian nation is moving in the right direction economically, socially, and politically. And that we are convinced that under President Bola Amekinembu GCFR, Nigeria will get to her destination faster in prosperity.

“We are commending the resolution of these governors that the president should be used and be adopted as our flag bearer for the 2027 presidential election,” Uzodinma announced.

The PGF Chairman therefore saddled the governors with the responsibility of delivering their individual state for the president.

“We are hereby charged to take responsibility to make sure that the government policies occupy the political space in their domains and take responsibility for winning all elections in their states come 2027,” he said.

The motion for the adoption of the president as the sole candidate of APC in 2027 was seconded by the Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sanni.

The PGF’s stance was echoed by the APC senators and House Representatives members, led by Senate President Goodwill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abass.
