Alia Suspends Aide Arrested By EFCC Over Sextortion, Cyberbullying

Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia

Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has ordered the indefinite suspension of his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Mkor Aondona, following his arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.

In a statement issued by his media aide, Tersoo Kula, Alia emphasized that the suspension reflects his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on criminality, ethical misconduct, and actions that undermine public trust.

The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to integrity, discipline, and accountability in governance, warning that any official found culpable of criminal behavior will face the full consequences of the law.

“Public office is a sacred trust that must be carried out with honour, transparency, and responsibility. Anyone who deviates from this will have no place in my administration,” he declared.

He assured the public that the legal process will proceed without interference, stressing that the state government remains committed to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups, while working with law enforcement to ensure justice is served.
