JAMB Sets 150 as Cut-Off Mark for 2025 University Admission

A new minimum score of 150 has been set for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2025 academic year.

This decision was made on Tuesday during the policy meeting convened by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) with vice-chancellors and other stakeholders in attendance.

Under the new guideline, no university in the country is allowed to admit candidates who scored below 150 in this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Despite this general benchmark, some universities, such as the University of Lagos, Pan-Atlantic University, and the University of Ibadan, have opted to raise their own cut-off marks to 200.

A few recently established private universities proposed accepting candidates with scores as low as 120, though JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, advised setting a more competitive minimum of 160.
