Two Dead, N2.1 Million Recovered in Jigawa Road Crash

ESTHER SALIFU, Abuja

A tragic collision on the Ringim-Kano Road in Jigawa State has resulted in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to ten others.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident involved two Volkswagen vehicles and was attributed to overspeeding and wrongful overtaking.

During the rescue operation, FRSC officials recovered N2.1 million belonging to one of the deceased and a survivor.

Umar Mas’ud, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Jigawa State, made his statement during a press briefing in Dutse, the state capital.

Umar Mas’ud reported that all 13 individuals involved in the crash hailed from Bareda village in Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He stated, “Overspeeding and wrongful overtaking were the primary causes of this unfortunate incident.”

In the aftermath of the accident, FRSC personnel recovered N2,166,700 belonging to one of the deceased and a survivor.

Mas’ud noted, “Our team ensured the recovered funds were handed over to the victims’ relatives in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, ASP Abdullahi Ibrahim, demonstrating our commitment to integrity and transparency.”

Commending the diligence of the FRSC Unit Command involved in the rescue operation, Mas’ud emphasized the Corps’ dedication to public service.

He also urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, cautioning against overspeeding and dangerous overtaking to prevent such tragedies.
