Gunmen Kill POS Operator, Flee With Cash in Benue

Suspected armed robbers have shot dead a point-of-sale (POS) operator during a robbery attack in Gboko area of Benue State.

Sources in the community said the victim was attending to customers at his POS stand when the assailants suddenly stormed the area and launched the attack.

The young operator, who relied on the business for his livelihood, was reportedly shot during the incident.

After carrying out the attack, the gunmen fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money taken from the POS point, leaving residents in shock.

An eyewitness said the incident happened quickly and caused panic among people nearby.

“It happened so fast. We never imagined such violence here,” the witness said.

As of the time of filing this report, the Benue State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident.

However, sources said security authorities had begun investigations into the killing.

Residents of the community have since mourned the victim, describing him as a hardworking young man who was trying to earn a living through his small business.

They also expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for strength for them during the difficult period.
