KDI, NYSC Partner to Launch Civic and Voter Education CDS for Corps Members
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) has partnered with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to establish a Civic and Voter Education Community Development Service (CDS) group for corps members across the country.
The initiative followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations on March 11, 2026, at the NYSC National Headquarters in Abuja.
In a statement issued on Friday by KDI’s Communications Manager, Mercy Abiem, the organisation said the collaboration is aimed at strengthening civic education and encouraging wider participation in Nigeria’s democratic process.
According to the statement, the programme will mobilise thousands of corps members across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to promote voter education and civic awareness in their host communities.
“The partnership will mobilise corps members across Nigeria to promote voter and civic education within their host communities through the KDI Civic and Voter Education CDS Group,” the statement said.
KDI noted that the programme would leverage the nationwide structure and grassroots reach of the NYSC scheme to ensure voter education messages reach diverse and often underserved populations.
“The initiative will leverage the extensive national reach and community engagement structure of the NYSC scheme, enabling voter education messages to reach diverse and underserved populations,” the statement added.
It explained that the initiative would also ensure that voter education campaigns carried out by corps members remain accurate, inclusive and consistent with national electoral guidelines and civic mobilisation standards.
KDI described the partnership as a major step toward strengthening youth-driven civic engagement in Nigeria.
“This partnership represents a significant milestone in institutionalising youth-led civic engagement in Nigeria,” the statement said.
“By embedding voter education activities within the NYSC structure, the programme creates a sustainable platform for young Nigerians to contribute meaningfully to strengthening democratic culture and electoral integrity.”
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic governance, electoral accountability and broader civic participation through strategic partnerships and community-based programmes.
