Fix Your Internal Crisis, Stop Blaming Tinubu, Group Tells ADC

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has asked the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to address its internal challenges instead of blaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Emeka Nwankpa, and Secretary, Dapo Okubanjo, the group described allegations by the ADC of a plot to impose Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate in 2027 as “wicked, malicious and preposterous.”

The group said it was surprised by claims that unnamed APC figures were working to create confusion within the ADC, insisting that such accusations were baseless.

“We are alarmed by recent claims by the leadership of the ADC of an alleged plot to pressure the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise a faction of the party other than the group headed by former Senate President, David Mark,” the statement said.

According to TMSG, the crisis within the ADC predates the current allegations and is rooted in internal disagreements over leadership and party structure.

The group recalled that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, had attempted to take over the ADC structure in 2025, a move that sparked controversy within the party.

It noted that some members of the ADC had rejected the arrangement, alleging that due process was not followed and that the party’s National Executive Committee was sidelined.

TMSG also referenced recent comments by a factional spokesman, Christopher Okechukwu, who reportedly described the group aligned with David Mark as “interlopers” engaged in a “hostile takeover.”

The group questioned why the ADC would drag the President into what it described as a purely internal dispute, especially as the matter is already before the courts.

“Was it the ruling party that prevented the Atiku group from carrying out due diligence when they were searching for a platform to challenge the APC?” the statement asked.

TMSG further argued that building a political party requires time, discipline and structure, noting that the APC’s current standing was the result of years of effort by leaders, including Tinubu and former President Muhammadu Buhari.

It accused opposition figures of looking for scapegoats instead of accepting responsibility for their decisions.

The group advised the ADC leadership to focus on resolving its internal crisis and strengthening its structures rather than attributing its challenges to external forces.
