‘Assembly of Confused Politicians’ — APC Taunts ADC Over Derecognition
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing its leadership as an “assembly of confused and desperate politicians” amid the party’s protest over its derecognition.
In a statement on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the ADC’s current troubles were self-inflicted, dismissing claims that the ruling party had any hand in its internal crisis.
He accused the opposition party of peddling conspiracy theories about the APC’s role in undermining it.
The ruling party maintained that the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to derecognise the faction led by David Mark was lawful and backed by a valid court judgment.
Morka said the crisis in the ADC stemmed from what he described as a breach of its own constitution, noting that the factional leadership involving Mark and Rauf Aregbesola emerged in violation of due process and effectively set the party on a path to its current troubles.
He said, “The ADC’s unwillingness to take responsibility for its miserable failure to follow due process, order its internal affairs, and manage its self-inflicted crisis makes it grossly unfit as a platform to be taken seriously by Nigerians.”
The APC spokesman described attempts by the ADC to blame the ruling party as “highly escapist and irresponsible,” insisting that the opposition must own up to its mistakes.
“A party that cannot fix itself cannot possibly fix Nigeria,” he added.
He further accused the ADC of lacking ideas and focusing largely on attacking the APC rather than presenting credible alternatives.
“It has absolutely nothing to offer more than its senseless attacks against the APC. Attacking the APC seems to be its cardinal commitment and manifesto,” Morka said.
Reaffirming the party’s position, he said the APC and the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remain committed to governance and the delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Our great party and the administration of President Bola Tinubu remain steadfast in delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda and strengthening democratic institutions for peace, unity and prosperity of all Nigerians,” he said.
The exchange marks a further escalation in the war of words between the two parties following the controversy surrounding the ADC’s derecognition by INEC.
