Blord Remanded in Kuje Prison Over Alleged Impersonation of VDM

Linus Williams Ifejirika, popularly known as Blord, a cryptocurrency entrepreneur, was on Wednesday remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre by a Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations of impersonating activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VDM.
Blord faces charges including criminal conspiracy, impersonation, and unauthorised use of VDM’s identity. The case arose after VDM accused Blord of using his image without consent for promotional material linked to Blord’s business ventures.
Following his court appearance, the presiding judge ordered Blord’s remand until April 27, 2026. VDM shared a video from the courthouse celebrating the development, stating:
“LINUS WILLIAMS IFEJIRIKA A.K.A BLORD has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre. He is remanded for 26 days, meaning he will be spending his Easter in prison.”
VDM explained the basis of his allegations, noting that Blord allegedly forged flight tickets under his name, claimed to have paid him 500 million naira as a brand ambassador, and printed billboards and fliers with VDM’s image without approval, promoting apps and other business ventures falsely attributed to him.
Legal practitioner Marshal Abubakar, involved in the case, confirmed the remand and shared on social media that Blord was swiftly brought from Awka to Abuja, with assurances of food, medical care, and security during detention.
The remand has sparked public debate, with activist Omoyele Sowore condemning the celebration of Blord’s incarceration.
“No one should celebrate the incarceration of any person under the color of law,” Sowore wrote on X, adding that the case risks emboldening a system that weaponises legal processes against citizens.
Blord is the founder of the Blord Group, a conglomerate with interests in real estate and fintech, including Blord Real Estate Ltd., Blord Jetpay Ltd., and Billpoint Technology, with a strong emphasis on cryptocurrency trading.
