We Are National Party, Not Regional Movement, Says NDC
JOEL OLADELE, Abuja

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared that it is a national political movement with presence across the country, dismissing suggestions that it is regionally driven.
The party made the assertion on Wednesday in Abuja during the unveiling of its digital membership registration portal, a platform designed to expand participation and strengthen its internal structures.
National Leader of the party, Henry Seriake Dickson, said the initiative marks a step toward modernising the party and opening it up to Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
“We are a national party. We are a pan-Nigerian democratic movement, not a regional movement,” Dickson said.
He explained that the portal would enable Nigerians to register seamlessly as members while allowing the party to maintain a reliable and well-coordinated database.
Dickson thanked Nigerians for the support the party has received since its emergence, noting that many citizens had already indicated interest in joining the platform.
“I thank Nigerians across the country for the encouragement, the calls and the messages of support since the announcement of this movement. Many people have already shown their willingness to support this vision to help salvage our country,” he said.
The former Bayelsa governor added that although the party is only a few weeks old, it has begun to attract attention nationwide, with experienced political actors already coordinating activities at state, local government and ward levels.
To ensure inclusiveness, Dickson said the party would complement the online registration process with manual forms for Nigerians in rural communities who may not have access to digital tools.
According to him, the printed forms would be distributed through party officials across the country to capture a broader membership base.
He expressed confidence that the party would meet all regulatory requirements within the available timeframe, stressing that structures have already been put in place to drive the process.
On the state of the nation, Dickson said many Nigerians were dissatisfied with current conditions and were seeking a credible political alternative.
“Nigerians are angry with the status quo. They are not only angry, they are also hungry, and they are hungry for change,” he said.
He described the NDC as a fresh and crisis-free platform focused on democratic values and national development.
“The NDC is available as the tool for effecting the change Nigerians desire,” he added.
Also speaking, the party’s National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, said the digital membership portal would make it easier for Nigerians to join and actively participate in the party’s programmes.
He noted that the platform would promote transparency and accountability while strengthening grassroots mobilisation across the country.
Moses added that interested Nigerians can register through the party’s official website and obtain their membership credentials through the digital system.
