The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, on Saturday visited victims of the recent Angwan Rukuba attack in Jos, pledging that the cycle of killings in Plateau State would be brought to an end.

Yilwatda, accompanied by his wife, Dr Martina Yilwatda, met with victims receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, where he also announced a donation of N15 million to support their medical care and other vulnerable patients.

The visit, according to a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, was both a gesture of solidarity and a reaffirmation of the Federal Government’s resolve to restore peace in the troubled state.

Speaking during the visit, the APC chairman condemned the attack in strong terms, describing it as “barbaric, painful, unacceptable, and a direct assault on our common humanity.”

He stressed that the persistent violence in Plateau must no longer be treated with routine condemnation, urging a more coordinated and decisive response from all stakeholders.

“The pain of the victims and their families is a burden that must be shared by all men and women of conscience,” Yilwatda said, adding that no society can make meaningful progress where citizens live in fear.

He assured the victims that the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu remained committed to strengthening security operations and ensuring that lives and property are protected across the country.

According to him, “the Federal Government is not leaving any stone unturned in its determination to ensure that every Nigerian life is valued, protected, and defended against criminality, violence, and terror.”

The APC chairman noted that the tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for leaders, communities and security agencies to work in unity to confront the forces behind the attacks.

As part of his visit, Yilwatda also commiserated with families of those who lost their lives, praying for the repose of the deceased and strength for their loved ones.

He commended the management and medical personnel of the teaching hospital for their swift response and professionalism in handling the victims.

The party leader further paid a condolence visit to the Ujah Anaguta, the paramount ruler of Jos North, over the incident.

Yilwatda cautioned against politicising the crisis, insisting that the recurring violence must not be reduced to routine headlines but should trigger sustained security interventions and deeper community engagement.

He called on political leaders, traditional rulers, religious groups and other stakeholders to unite against violence and promote peace in Plateau.

“Plateau must not be allowed to descend into repeated circles of bloodshed, grief and instability,” he said, reaffirming the commitment of the APC and the Federal Government to restoring lasting peace in the state.
