Kaduna Abduction: Two Women Killed for Resisting Rape in Captivity

Tragedy has struck families of abducted residents of Janjala community in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, as two young women held by bandits have been killed in captivity.

The victims were among 14 people kidnapped on March 1, 2026, when gunmen invaded the community, abducting a vigilante member, his wife, and 12 others.

Sources said the kidnappers had initially demanded N14 million ransom. After weeks of negotiations, the families reportedly raised N13 million, which was delivered at a forest location around Hayin Dam in neighbouring Kachia Local Government Area.

However, despite the payment, the bandits allegedly informed the families that two of the female captives had been killed.

A local source said the victims were shot after resisting attempts by some of the abductors to sexually assault them.

“As the girls refused to allow the bandits rape them, their leader ordered them to be shot on the spot,” the source said.

It was gathered that while some of the women were released after the ransom payment, the abductors held back the male victims and are demanding the balance of N1 million alongside food supplies before their release.

A security source confirmed the killing of the two women but declined to provide further details. A community leader also corroborated the development, saying the information was relayed by a relative of one of the victims.

“In fact, it was this afternoon one of the family members of the abducted victims called to inform us that two girls among the victims had been killed,” the community leader said.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Hassan Mansur, for comments were unsuccessful as calls and messages sent to him were not responded to as of the time of filing this report.

The incident has heightened fears among residents of the area, who continue to grapple with recurring cases of kidnapping and violent attacks.
