APC Faces Fresh Crisis as Hafsatu Danladi Declares Self National Chairman

A new leadership tussle has emerged within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) following a bold declaration by Alhaja Hafsatu Danladi, who insists she is the party’s rightful national chairperson.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Danladi rejected the authority of the party’s current leadership and signalled her intention to challenge it in court, setting the stage for what could become a protracted legal and political battle.
“I hereby assert my position as the true and authentic Chairperson of the APC,” she declared, maintaining that her claim is rooted in legality and due process.
Danladi disclosed that she would approach the Federal High Court in Abuja to contest what she described as an “illegitimate structure” overseeing the affairs of the party. According to her, the legal move is necessary to restore order and safeguard the integrity of the APC amid lingering internal disagreements.
She also revealed plans to seek an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw recognition from the current National Working Committee.
The claimant specifically faulted the NWC led by Nentawe Yilwatda, arguing that its continued recognition undermines democratic principles within the party.
“This step is necessary to uphold the rule of law and ensure that due process is followed,” she added.
The development signals a fresh crack within the APC, which has in recent times grappled with internal disputes over leadership and direction, raising concerns about cohesion within the party ahead of future political contests.
