Lookman Fires Atletico Past Barcelona into Champions League Semis

Nigeria international Ademola Lookman scored the decisive goal as Atletico Madrid edged FC Barcelona 3-2 on aggregate to book a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night.
The second leg in Madrid produced early drama, with Barcelona racing into the lead through Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres, goals that wiped out Atletico’s first-leg advantage and brought the tie level on aggregate.
But Lookman restored Atletico’s edge before the break, finishing off a move that proved decisive over the two legs and ultimately sent Diego Simeone’s side through.
Barcelona pushed for another goal after the interval, knowing a single strike would swing the tie back in their favour, but their task became more difficult late on when Eric Garcia was sent off with 11 minutes remaining.
Reduced to 10 men for the second time across both legs, the visitors struggled to find a way back, despite securing a 2-1 win on the night.
Atletico, however, held on to their aggregate advantage, with Diego Simeone guiding his side into the last four of Europe’s elite competition.
The result marks another standout moment for Lookman, whose goal proved enough to separate the two sides in a tightly contested quarter-final.
